This coming Saturday, May 16 2009, the US Coast Guard Auxiliary at Hernando Beach is holding its second annual open house from 8 am to 5 PM at their building on Shoal Line Boulevard in Hernando Beach. SHARC will be participating in the event for three reasons:

1.  Demonstrate the capabilities of ham radio (Public Education)

2.  Establish a working relationship with the Hernando Beach USCG Flotilla

3.  Seek new SHARC members

SHARC will set up inside the air conditioned building with tables and chairs provided by the facility. We can locate near a window opening so we can run co-ax through it from an HF station (provided by Mike KF4IFF) to an antenna set up outside.

KF4IFF Mike has agreed to bring and set up an HF station in the morning. Mike, Dave Haney said has a power supply for you to use, contact him directly please. Also remember to bring long co-ax and extension cords. We need someone to bring and set up an HF station for the afternoon. Everyone please bring a 2-Meter HT if you have one. It would be helpful if someone could bring a 2-Meter rig and antenna (with co-ax) so we can demonstrate access the SHARC repeater.

SHARC members will be talking to USCG Auxiliary members and other visitors about ham radio and SHARC, and operating on either HF or 2-meters. We need at least 4 people there at all times - more is better. Following is a schedule of SHARC members who have volunteered to staff the event:
