Nominating Committee
|
As you probably know, election time is drawing near. No, not that little
dust-up between McCain and Obama. We mean the IMPORTANT one...... the one in
December to choose SHARC's Officers and one new Director for 2009.
The first part of the process is to form a nominating committee. There are
already several volunteers, but more are needed.
Q: What does the nominating committee do ?
A: The job is simple, but vitally important: the nominating committee's job
is to put together a slate of candidates.
Q: How can I become a member of the nominating committee ?
A: Just contact Bernie Bathauer at bathauer@gate.net or call him at (352)
754-9030.
Q: Will the slate of candidates offered by the nominating committee be the
only candidates ?
A: Not necessarily. Nominations will be welcome from the floor at the
November general meeting.
Q: Then why have a nominating committee ?
A: The purpose of the nominating committee is to ensure that there is AT
LEAST one candidate to fill each available position.
Q: If I serve on the nominating committee, will that prevent me from running
for an office or directorship ?
A: Absolutely not. Members of the nominating committee are in no way
prevented from being put into nomination for any office or directorship.
